Macro International Awarded MEASURE Evaluation Leader with Associates Award
Macro today announced it is part of a consortium that was awarded the MEASURE Evaluation Phase III leader with associates award (LWA) by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). The $181 million, five-year contract will serve as the Bureau for Global Health’s flagship program for monitoring and evaluation of population, health, and nutrition projects. Macro’s subcontract is for $20 million.
Since 1997, Macro has been a major part of USAID’s initiatives to help developing countries collect and use data to monitor and evaluate population, health, and nutrition programs. Over that period, Macro has provided technical assistance to USAID and its implementing partners, Ministries of Health, NGOs, and donor agencies to provide guidance on public-health-related monitoring and evaluation, to develop M&E plans, to collect and use health program data, and to build capacity to conduct M&E activities at the global, national, and sub-national levels. The program covers a range of programmatic areas including reproductive health, child health, nutrition, HIV/AIDS, gender, and infectious diseases including malaria.
"The MEASURE Evaluation project is at the cutting edge of health program measurement, and use of information for program improvement,” said Erin Eckert, the leader of the Macro subcontract. "MEASURE Evaluation has been at the forefront of setting standards and building capacity in M&E across a wide-range of programmatic areas. Our work is widely respected and used worldwide,” said Dr. Eckert. "For the new project, we will expand efforts in organizational development and capacity building, as well as emphasizing data use for improving public health.” Macro is a subcontractor on the project to the University of North Carolina/Carolina Population Center. Other partners on the project include the Futures Group, John Snow International, Tulane University, and Management Sciences for Health.
