AURORA, Ill., Dec. 19, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Heartland Blood Centers, the leading supplier of donated blood to more than 70 Chicago-area hospitals, is looking for your blood donation this holiday season. As a thank you, from December 19^th – December 31^st, all blood donors will receive a $10 Target card, compliments of Heartland Blood Centers. Keep blood donation on your to-do list!

Amy Smith, Director of Donor Recruitment says, "Holiday plans, inclement weather and illness cause a decrease in donations during December. Patients still need blood, especially those receiving life-infusing transfusions, allowing them to be home with their friends and family during the holidays."

To help residents fit donating into their holiday schedules, Heartland has extended hours at two of our busiest donation centers. Aurora and Tinley Park donation centers will offer 12 hour collections on December 26^th & December 27^th; opening from 7am – 7pm for whole blood and platelet collections.  

Patients whose lives are enhanced, extended and saved are grateful for your blood donation. Gavin who battled leukemia or Nathan who needed a liver transplant wouldn't have had the life-saving blood available to them, when they needed it most, if it were not for the generosity of blood donors!
