Mattress Firm Profit Misses Estimate, Sales Beats; Stock Up 5%

(RTTNews) - Bedding retailer Mattress Firm Holding Corp (MFRM) on Thursday reported fourth-quarter net earnings of $6.6 million or $0.19 per share compared with $8.7 million or $0.25 per share last year.

Excluding items, adjusted earnings for the quarter were $0.41 per share compared with $0.30 per share a year ago.

Revenues for the quarter were $598.3 million compared with $312 million in the prior year.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated earnings of $0.48 per share on revenues of $562.5 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Comparable-store sales for the quarter grew 1.9%.

For the full year 2016, the company expects adjusted earnings of $2.50 to $2.70 per share on revenues of $2.47 billion to $2.52 billion. Analysts expect earnings of $2.77 per share on revenues of $2.41 billion.
