Jacques Bailet, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, said: "The 2013 financial year closes out with revenue up 16.1%, including 7.4% organic growth. This performance exceeds our expectations. It is the result of the daily engagement of all Medica’s employees towards our clients and their families. For 2014, we are already committed to a successful merger between Korian and Medica. We are doing everything possible so that the integration of our two companies is a success and operational starting on the day after the merger, which should be finalised in March."
2013 Revenues 834.1 MILLION EUROS, UP 16.1%
The consolidated revenue for 2013 amounted to 834.1 million, up 16.1% compared to 2012 including 7.4% organic growth, which exceeds company’s expectations.
Driven by the long-term care segment, 2013 revenues in France increased nearly 10% to 702.8 million Euros. Selective growth operations (122 beds in the fourth quarter) supplement buoyant organic growth.
Finalised on 30 September 2013, the acquisition of SLG contributed 51.8 million Euros for its first quarter of consolidation. On the basis of Q4 figures, the portion outside of France now represents more than 28% of MEDICA's revenue.
As at 31 December 2013, the number of beds operated by MEDICA is 23,001 beds across 277 facilities.
- Long-term care - France: 12,626 beds and 163 facilities
- Post-acute and psychiatric care - France: 2,727 beds and 39 facilities
- Italy: 2,165 beds and 28 facilities
- Belgium: 5,483 beds and 47 facilities
CONTINUATION OF THE KORIAN MEDICA MERGER PROCESS
Announced on 18 November 2013, the merger process between Korian and Medica, with a view to creating the European leader in services for seniors, is continuing in accordance with the expected schedule. After the signing of the merger treaty which took place on 23 January 2014, and the notification to the French competition authorities, the annual meeting of shareholders of both companies will be held during the first quarter in order to obtain shareholder approval concerning the merger project.
