MEMSCAP Awarded Grant from Innovation Norway to Initiate the Industrialisation of High End Pressure Sensors Platform

Memscap (Paris:MEMS) (NYSE Euronext: MEMS), the leading provider of innovative solutions based on MEMS (micro-electro-mechanical systems) technology, today announces the launch of the first stages of industrialization of the piezoresistive technology platform for high performance pressure sensors.

The launch of "4P” (Precision Piezoresistive Pressure sensor Platform), a 3 year and a half, €1.6M funded project to support the development of "beyond state-of-the-art” pressure sensors and related technology was announced by MEMSCAP in July 2013 to develop a new MEMS piezoresistive technology platform and next generation of pressure sensors for high-end barometric applications. This new grant aims at industrializing this technology and sensors in order to take them to market.

MEMSCAP modular aerospace products are designed for all the aeronautics control systems worldwide, and their applications range from engine control, altitude and cabin pressure control, air data, to altimeters, air speed indicators and space applications. MEMSCAP products fly in tens of thousands of planes from wide-body aircrafts to light aircrafts passing by helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) and trainer aircrafts.

As the first development results of "4P” show significant improvement of the sensors’ performance, Innovation Norway awarded MEMSCAP a grant to initiate the industrialization of the MEMS piezoresistive platform and next generation of pressure sensors. Such industrialization effort is expected to further improve the productivity of the MEMSCAP Norwegian production entity.
