MidSouth Bancorp Q1 Profit Rises

(RTTNews) - MidSouth Bancorp, Inc. (MSL) reports first-quarter net earnings available to common shareholders of $6.7 million or $0.57 per share, compared to $3.1 million or $0.27 per share in the comparable quarter last year.

Operating earnings for the latest first quarter were $0.33 per share, up from $0.28 per share in the prior year quarter.

On average, six analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.27 per share. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Net interest income rose to $18.9 million from $18.4 million last year, while non-interest income was $7.9 million, compared to $4.4 million in the year-ago period.
