Midsouth Bancorp Q2 Profit Rises

(RTTNews) - Midsouth Bancorp Inc. (MSL) Monday reported second-quarter earnings of $3.66 million, up 47.8 percent from $2.48 million in the comparable quarter last year.

Net earnings available to common shareholders improved to $3.1 million or $0.29 per share from $2.1 million or $0.20 per share last year.

On average, four analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.28 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Net-interest income increased 43 percent to $19.74 million from $13.81 million last year. Non-interest income totaled $5.0 million, up 26.2 percent from $3.97 million last year.

Provision for loan losses was $1.25 million, compared to $575 thousand last year.
