News Corporation Q3 Profit Increases, Beats Estimates

(RTTNews) - News Corporation (NWSA) reported a profit for its third quarter that increased from last year and beat the Street estimates.

The company's earnings totaled $103 million, or $0.18 per share. This compares with $30 million, or $0.05 per share, last year.

Excluding items, News Corporation reported adjusted earnings of $98 million or $0.17 per share for the period.

Analysts on average had expected the company to earn $0.13 per share. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company's revenue for the period rose 0.8% to $2.009 billion from $1.994 billion last year.
