VON Spring 2005
FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 7, 2005--
Mobile Operator Deploys Innovative Video Messaging Solution on 3G
Network
NMS Communications (NASDAQ: NMSS) today announced that Voxpilot, a leading provider of carrier-grade IMS and VoiceXML solutions, has launched VideoMail, its turnkey mobile video messaging solution for Monaco Telecom, the leading network operator in Monaco with operations in Europe, Africa, the Mediterranean and the West Indies. VideoMail enables operators to deploy and offer their subscribers video messaging services on their mobile phones in 3G networks today. VideoMail is built on NMS' Open Access(TM) (www.nmscommunications.com/openaccess) framework, using the Video Access(TM) developer toolkit, the industry's "gold standard" which is at the heart of mobile video applications and solutions deployed by carriers around the world.
Monaco Telecom has a reputation as a cutting-edge operator, recognized for pioneering the offering of advanced solutions to its subscriber base. Voxpilot's VideoMail helps operators like Monaco Telecom take advantage of their 3G network infrastructure investments quickly and cost-effectively by providing everything they need to launch mobile video messaging, including hardware, software and installation. Hosted on a single server with 2000 mailboxes, VideoMail functions like a visual voicemail repository, allowing callers to leave video messages that can be subsequently retrieved by the recipient. The solution enables 3G mobile operators to increase call completion rates while at the same time offering customers a fun way to ensure all their video messages get delivered.
The Voxpilot video messaging application was built using NMS' Video Access media processing toolkit, which serves as the foundation for a wide range of powerful video applications ranging from 3G-324M wireless video gateways to wireless video messaging and streaming servers to video media adaptation including video transcoders. Like Video Access, Voxpilot's VideoMail solution is also standards-based, implementing 3G-324M umbrella standards defined by the 3GPP (3rd Generation Partnership Project) ensuring interoperability of the mobile phone with the mobile network equipment and providing connectivity via standard T1 or E1 trunks. It includes a dual audio and video messaging application for 3G mobile networks, and the VideoMail application also supports non-3G mobile devices by offering the audio-only interactive voice interface.
"Because mobile operators have already invested so much in their 3G networks, they are anxious to begin realizing revenues with minimal risk and low cost, and our VideoMail offering provides them with the perfect opportunity to do that. Now operators can test new applications with their early 3G customers, as well as familiarize them with mobile video for perhaps the first time," said Gilles Meyer, CEO of Voxpilot. "NMS' Video Access development suite made it possible for us to bring a carrier-grade video product to market quickly, making Voxpilot one of the first companies to provide video messaging services in today's 3G networks."
For a demonstration of VideoMail, as well as Voxpilot's next-generation VoiceXML media platform with IVR, multimodal, SIP, and MRCP support, please visit NMS Communications' booth # 815 at Spring 2005 VON Conference & Expo, March 7-10 at the San Jose Convention Center in San Jose, CA, the industry tradeshow for Voice over IP since 1997.
