Nordson Q3 Adj. Profit Beats Estimate; Issues Q4 Outlook

(RTTNews) - Nordson Corp. (NDSN) Thursday reported third-quarter net income of $77.9 million or $1.21 per share, compared to $65.4 million or $1.01 per share in the comparable quarter last year.

Adjusted earnings for the latest third quarter were $1.20 per share, up from $0.99 per share in the prior year quarter. On average, 13 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $1.13 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Sales rose 14% to $458.55 million from $402.96 million last year, while eleven analysts expected revenues of $449.77 million.

This increase in sales included an 8 percent increase in organic volume, a 5 percent increase related to the first year effect of acquisitions, and a 1 percent increase related to the favorable effects of currency translation.

Looking ahead to the fourth quarter, the company has forecast earnings in the range of $1.07 to $1.17 per share, with sales ranging between 10 percent to 14 percent. Analysts currently expect the company to earn $1.13 per share on fourth-quarter revenues of 10.50%.
