Northwest Natural Gas Profit Advances 3% In Q1

(RTTNews) - Northwest Natural Gas (NWN) announced a profit for its first quarter that gained ground compared to the same period last year.

The company said its bottom line came in at $38.63 million, or $1.40 per share. This was higher than $37.56 million, or $1.37 per share, in last year's first quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $1.25 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter fell 2.3% to $255.53 million. This was down from $261.66 million last year.
