Orange Q1 Revenues, Restated EBITDA Down 3.8% On Comparable Basis - Quick Facts
(RTTNews) - French telecom major Orange SA (ORAN), previously France Telecom, reported first-quarter 2014 consolidated revenues of 9.80 billion euros, a 3.8% decline on a comparable basis, from the prior year's 10.2 billion euros. Excluding the impact of regulatory measures, the Group's revenues slipped by 3.0%, an improvement of 0.8 percentage points compared with the trend in the 2013 fourth quarter.
For the quarter, restated EBITDA totaled 3.02 billion euros, compared with 3.14 billion euros in the year-ago quarter, down 3.8% on a comparable basis. Excluding the impact of regulatory measures, the decrease was 3.3%. On a comparable basis, the restated EBITDA margin of 30.8% in the quarter, was stable compared with the prior-year quarter.
Commenting on the results, Orange Group's Chairman and Chief Executive said: "Orange's first quarter 2014 performance was very satisfactory, aided in large part by the continued strong commercial momentum in our core countries. Orange benefits from the efficient segmentation of its offers as well as its investment in very high-speed broadband - fibre and 4G - which enable the Group to differentiate itself from the competition."
Looking forward, the Group has stabilised its restated EBITDA margin in the first quarter of 2014 and backed its targets for 2014.
