(RTTNews) - PerkinElmer Inc. (PKI) Thursday reported third-quarter net income of $40.2 million or $0.36 per share, down from $29.6 million or $0.26 per share in the same period last year.

Net income from continuing operations rose to $40.3 million or $0.36 per share from $29.0 or $0.25 per share in the same period last year.

Adjusted earnings for the quarter were $0.49 per share, up from $0.45 per share in the comparable quarter last year. On average, 16 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.48 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Revenues increased to $524.28 million from $509.60 million last year, while 15 analysts expected revenues of $523.84 million.

Looking ahead, the company now projects full-year GAAP earnings from continuous operations in the range of $1.42 to $1.45 per share and adjusted earnings in the range of $2.04 to $2.07 per share.

Earlier, the company expected adjusted earnings in the range of $2.03 to $2.10 per share. Analysts currently expect full-year earnings of $2.07 per share.
