Pilgrim's Pride Corporation Reports 46% Fall In Q3 Profit

(RTTNews) - Pilgrim's Pride Corporation (PPC) reported earnings for third quarter that retreated from last year.

The company said its profit totaled $137.06 million, or $0.53 per share. This was lower than $255.98 million, or $0.99 per share, in last year's third quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $0.72 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter fell 7.0% to $2.11 billion. This was down from $2.27 billion last year.
