(RTTNews) - Polypore International, Inc. (PPO) reported net income for the second quarter of $15.4 million, or $0.33 per share, compared to $20.5 million, or $0.43 per share for the year-ago quarter.

Excluding items, adjusted net income for the quarter was $18.8 million, or $0.40 per share, down from $23.9 million, or $0.51 per share, in the prior year quarter.

Sales for the latest quarter rose to $168.9 million from $167.6 million a year ago.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.39 per share on revenue of $178.10 million for the second quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
