Apple Inc. (AAPL) is gaining nearly 1 percent to $494.00, after closing yesterday's regular session up 4 percent at $489.57. Activist investor Carl Icahn tweeted that he currently holds a "large" stock position in the iPhone maker. Icahn said he believe that the company is extremely undervalued.

Deere & Co. (DE) is rising 1 percent to $84.73. The company's third quarter earnings improved from the year-ago quarter and topped Wall Street view. Total net sales for the quarter rose 4 percent and managed to come above Street view. The company forecast company equipment sales to be up about 5 percent for fiscal 2013 and to decrease by about 5 percent for the fourth quarter compared to the year-ago periods.

MannKind Corp. (MNKD) is surging 16 percent to $7.95. The company announced positive preliminary results from Study 175 and Study 171, two Phase 3 clinical studies of Afrezza Inhalation Powder, an investigational, ultra rapid-acting mealtime insulin therapy administered using MannKind's next-generation inhaler, also known as the Dreamboat inhaler. The company stated that the studies met primary endpoints.

Osiris Therapeutics, Inc. (OSIR) is adding 8 percent to $27.62 based on the news that its biosurgery product Grafix demonstrated overwhelming efficacy in a diabetic foot ulcer study - closing three times as many wounds as standard of care.

Decliners:

Cree, Inc. (CREE) is down 16 percent to $63.16. The company's fourth quarter earnings improved from the year-ago quarter and its adjusted earnings per share matched Street view. Revenues increased 22 percent, but missed the consensus estimate. The company also forecast first quarter earnings below analysts' estimate.

Mecox Lane Ltd. (MCOX) is plunging 36 percent to $3.90. The company's second quarter net loss widened from the previous year period. Net revenues for the quarter decreased 44.1 percent year over year.
