Priceline.com Trip Protection Adds Job Loss Coverage
Priceline.com (Nasdaq: PCLN) announced today that it is offering its customers expanded optional travel insurance that now includes a full cancellation/refund if a customer books a trip and then loses his or her job.
The expanded trip protection is available for priceline.com’s vacation packages, Name Your Own Price® hotel rooms, published-price and Name Your Own Price® airline tickets, and rental cars booked as an add-on to any priceline.com travel reservation.
"For some people who are thinking about booking trips, the possibility of job loss is as much, or even more of a concern than illness or accidents,” said Chris Soder, priceline.com’s President of North American Travel. "We believe our enhanced coverage will reassure those customers with the knowledge that they can cancel their trip and get a refund should a covered job loss occur.”
Priceline.com’s travel insurance also covers customers in the event of unforeseen sickness, illness, injury or death. The optional, competitively priced insurance provides up to $500 in baggage protection coverage, up to $1,500 for on-the-road covered medical expenses, up to $50,000 for medical evacuation expenses, up to $10,000 in travel accident protection and 24-hour worldwide assistance services. The trip protection costs as little as $16 for an airline ticket or $5 a night for a hotel reservation.
Priceline.com’s job loss protection covers insurance holders who are involuntarily terminated or laid off by an employer as long as the customer was employed by that employer for at least three continuous years and that notification of termination occurs after the date that the customer purchased the insurance. Priceline.com’s optional travel protection is underwritten by Stonebridge Casualty Insurance Company and administered by BerkelyCare.
