Quantum Radiology's Mobile Breast Center Has Rolled into Atlanta

ATLANTA, Dec. 2, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Quantum Radiology's Mobile Breast Center (QR MBC) brings cutting-edge breast screening and expert radiologist interpretation directly to women at the workplace, thereby maximizing convenience and compliance.  QR MBC partners with corporations, such as Delta Air Lines and SunTrust Bank, and community health groups to provide breast cancer screening as a component of wellness initiatives.

"I think it's a great service for the women of SunTrust. It enables them to have a mammogram without taking a large amount of time away from their job. Quantum follows up with each of the women and makes the whole process from beginning to end very easy. I have heard nothing but great things about the experience from the SunTrust employees," says Gina Gay, RN at Premise Health and the SunTrust Plaza health clinic.

QR MBC is a joint venture with Charlotte Radiology, which has been providing mobile mammography services since 2011.  Once aboard the state of the art breast screening center on wheels, patients experience a comfortable environment. The vehicle is staffed by certified female mammography technologists, and features a waiting area, two private dressing rooms, and a private imaging suite. Appointments take less than 20 minutes from check-in to completion.  Each exam is interpreted by a board certified Quantum Radiology physician that specializes in breast imaging.

The American Cancer Society reports that a woman living in the US has a 12.3%, or a 1 in 8, lifetime risk of being diagnosed with breast cancer.  The Georgia Department of Health states that breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths for women in the United States and in Georgia.  Early detection is critical and cancers found earlier are more likely to be treated successfully – increasing the survival rate among women.

Dr. Anna Meyerson, Quantum Radiology's Breast Imaging Chief, states, "We recognize the time constraints women face when balancing their personal healthcare needs with the responsibilities of home and work life.  Our mobile service gives women the opportunity to conveniently address a component of their healthcare needs. Breast cancer screening gives us the best chance at early detection of breast cancer.  We are passionate about screening because we are saving lives."

Quantum Radiology began the mobile service at Delta Air Lines Atlanta headquarters.  "Quantum saved my life," says Shawna, a Delta Atlanta employee.  "If Quantum had not been there that day doing mammograms, my breast cancer would not have been found when it was."  Shawna was initially diagnosed at age 36 during a screening mammography event at Delta.  Though she had a referral for a mammogram from a prior visit with her doctor, she did not make an appointment until encountering the mobile breast center that day - a life changing moment where Quantum was able to detect her breast cancer in its earliest stages.  Shawna's story has inspired her Delta co-workers to obtain their annual screening mammograms, as they recognized that breast cancer does not discriminate by age, race, or history.

Quantum Radiology, with the American College of Radiology and the Society of Breast Imaging recommends a mammogram every year beginning at age 40.
