Record-Smashing Dory Is Disney's Latest Blockbuster
(RTTNews) - "Finding Dory" is creating a new record in the U.S. box office history after 13 years of the release of "Finding Nemo." Setting rest to the worries about the acceptance of an animation movie and that too a sequel with the same deep sea settings, "Finding Dory" has earned $136.2 million in box office.
"Central Intelligence," an action comedy, that came second to Dory, collected only $34.5 million at its opening weekend in U.S. box office.
"Finding Nemo's" sequel tells the story of Dory, a blue tang fish with short term memory loss. Dory forgets about her family, and all on a sudden, she remembers her parents, who might be trying to find her. Clown fish Nemo and Marlin are in key roles in Dory's trek to find her mom and dad. The one- hour-forty-three-minute movie was released in 4305 theaters in U.S. and Canada, setting a new record for an animation.
Prior to Dory, " Shrek the Third" was the best collected animation movie, grossing $121.6 million in the first week.
"Finding Dory" is directed by Andrew Stanton.
