Report : AB InBev Could Bid GBP 70 Bln For SABMiller

(RTTNews) - Belgian brewer Anheuser-Busch InBev NV, known as AB InBev (BUD, AHBIF.PK) could bid 70 billion pounds or about $106 billion for SABMiller Plc. (SAB.L, SABMRY.PK) this week, the Sunday Times reported.

Over recent days the world's two biggest brewers have begun "friendly" talks. The discussions continued into Saturday, with AB InBev expected to make a firm opening offer within days — possibly Monday morning.

On 16th September, SABMiller confirmed that AB InBev informed the company that it intended to make a proposal to acquire SABMiller. The company said no proposal had yet been received, and had no further details about the terms of any such proposal.

SABMiller then said that, by not later than October 14, ABInBev must either announce a firm intention to make an offer for SABMiller or announce that it does not intend to make an offer.
