Ritchie Bros. set for its best Newfoundland auction yet

June 20 auction in St. John's features big consignment from national contractor Valard Construction

ST. JOHN'S, June 6, 2018 /CNW/ - Ritchie Bros. is back in Newfoundland, with their best auction yet—selling hundreds of construction equipment items and trucks for dozens of local and national contractors, including 300+ items from Valard Construction, who recently completed the Labrador Island Transmission Link.

Equipment highlights in the June 20 auction in St. John's (2700 Trans Canada Hwy) include 45+ excavators, 25+ compactors, 15+ articulated dump trucks, as well as loaders, dozers, trucks, trailers, and more. All items will be sold without minimum bids or reserve prices.

"We have a large number of big ticket items in this auction—late model gear ready to go to new homes," said John Adams, Eastern Canada Sales Manager, Ritchie Bros. "We only hold one or two auctions a year in Newfoundland, so we encourage interested bidders to take advantage of this opportunity to purchase the equipment they need for upcoming projects. This is premium used gear from quality companies like Valard Construction, and is ready to go to work for you."

All the equipment being sold by Valard Construction in the St. John's auction was used on the recently completed Labrador Island Transmission Link project. Instead of transporting 300+ pieces of equipment 6,000 km to Valard's central yard in Alberta, the company decided it was best to turn to Ritchie Bros. to sell all of it in one day.

"Buyers have a real opportunity here," said Adam Budzinski, President & CEO of Valard Group. "We are selling a wide variety of late-model equipment, coming off a major project with a maintenance program that is second to none. Over the years we have established a great relationship with Ritchie Bros.—they get our equipment the widest possible market—so it was an easy decision for us to sell this gear with them."

Specific equipment highlights:

  • A 2015 John Deere 410E 6x6 articulated dump truck
  • A 2012 Volvo A30F 6x6 articulated dump truck
  • Seven John Deere 300D articulated dump trucks
  • Four 2015 Caterpillar 336FL hydraulic excavators
  • Five John Deere 290G LC hydraulic excavators
  • A 2015 Komatsu WA320-7 wheel loader
  • A Caterpillar D8T crawler tractor
