RocketHub Campaign Launched to Raise Funds for Igniteless, the First Fire-Prevention Device that Communicates with Stoves

DETROIT, July 22, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- After his 8-year-old son saw a news report about a family of children perishing in a house fire, inventor and former U.S. Marine Orlando Robinson, was inspired to create a device that would automatically turn off a stove that was left on unattended.

"My son asked if we can develop something so this would not happen again," said Robinson, president of D&D Innovation. 

This sparked the creation of Igniteless©, a device Robinson hopes to bring to market. Igniteless©, is a wireless smoke detection system that shuts power off, either electric or gas, to a kitchen stove when smoke is detected. 

The system consists of two components:

• A battery-powered smoke detector with addressable radio transmitter mounted on the ceiling.
• A power shutoff device with addressable radio receiver mounted behind the stove. 

This is not the first time the D&D Innovation CEO has been inspired to create a life-saving product. A decade ago, Robinson invented the Seat Belt Shifter Lock. It was created in honor of his late fiancée, Dionyell Walton, who died tragically in a car accident because she was not wearing a seat belt. 

"Our products are about solving problems and saving lives," Robinson said. "Statistics show that 46 percent of all home fires are caused by negligent cooking.  Our technology has the potential to mitigate this issue while preventing serious injuries." 

Within 10 seconds of smoke being detected by the smoke detector, a signal is sent to the shut-off device to shut off electricity or natural gas to the stove.  The transmitter and receiver can each be set to one of 512 addresses to eliminate cross-talk and interference from nearby neighborhood devices.

The design is complete and the team is ready for production, but in order to reach a price point that makes the product affordable for consumers, they need to purchase in large volume. Additionally, funds are needed to pay fees associated with:

The goal of this project is to raise $50,000 by August 30, 2013.  In the event this goal is not achieved, the will move forward with production and honor their reward agreement.
