Roxy Team Rider Chelsea Georgeson Wins 2005 World Championship Title and Makes History
-- Aggressive and Talented Rider Clinches 2005 World Surfing Crown with First Place Finish at Billabong Pro Maui; First Female Surfer Ever to Win World Title, Final Event and Vans Triple Crown of Surfing All In One
Roxy, a division of Quiksilver, Inc. (NYSE:ZQK), the world'sleading outdoor lifestyle company, congratulates Team Rider ChelseaGeorgeson for clinching her first-ever world surfing championshiptitle today at the Billabong Pro Maui. As defending event champion,Georgeson entered the competition as the world's number one rankedsurfer and finished with a first place win overall. Georgeson alsodefended her title as the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing champion and isnow the first female surfer in history to win all three titles.Georgeson just edged out best friend, Roxy teammate and 2004 worldchampion Sofia Mulanovich, who finishes the year as runner-up.

Georgeson, a 22-year-old goofy-footed Australian originallydiscovered by legendary 4-time world champion Lisa Andersen, begansurfing at the age of 13, and qualified for the WCT on her firstattempt in 2002. She has continued to improve on her eighth-placeyear-end ranking that season with a fourth place finish in 2003, thirdin 2004 and now first place in 2005. Georgeson, known for her smoothstyle and progressive maneuvers, as well as a particularly strongbackhand attack, is now regarded on the elite world stage as one ofthe most gifted and aggressive female riders in the world.
