    GREENVILLE, S.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 3, 2005--ScanSource Security Distribution, a business unit of specialty technology distributor, ScanSource, Inc. (Nasdaq: SCSC), has named its executive management team, which will be responsible for the strategic direction and oversight of the business unit. The new business unit will include access control, surveillance, intrusion, and fire-related products. ScanSource Security will serve only the reseller community.
    As recently announced, John Gaillard will serve as president of the new division. Gaillard most recently served as Vice President of Sales and Business Development for the Catalyst Telecom sales unit of ScanSource, Inc. Gaillard brings more than 10 years of distribution experience to this position, with more than 15 years serving in sales, business development and marketing roles.
    Tony Sorrentino will serve as vice president of merchandising for the Security Division. Sorrentino comes to the division from the ScanSource point-of-sale and automatic identification and data capture sales unit, where he served as Director of Merchandising for many of the company's best-of-breed manufacturers.
    Steve Owings, chairman of the board of ScanSource, Inc., has returned from medical leave and will be providing strategic counsel and guidance to the new management team.
