Scientific Learning to Host Seminar at Waynesburg Central High School on Ways to Increase Students’ Brain Processing Efficiency for Long-Term Gains

Central Greene School District is hosting a one-day seminar for regional educators to explore the importance of brain fitness in education. During the event, presented by Scientific Learning (NASDAQ:SCIL), a company founded by neuroscientists from the University of California San Francisco and Rutgers University, educators from surrounding districts will learn how cutting-edge technology and neuroscience are transforming education — and helping students become successful lifelong learners.

9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The main presenter is Dr. Martha Burns, an adjunct associate professor at Northwestern University and a practicing speech and language pathologist for more than 35 years. She has written three books on language difficulties associated with neurological disorders, and speaks on the development of language in the brain and the language to literacy continuum. Dr. Burns is available for interviews to discuss how students around the country — including those at Central Greene, West Greene, Jefferson-Morgan and West Jefferson Hills school districts — are using the Fast ForWord family of educational software products to build their cognitive and literacy skills, and accelerate their learning.
