Shaw Announces Charles M. Hess to Head Shaw's FEMA Hurricane Recovery Program

The Shaw Group Inc. (NYSE: SGR) today announced thatCharles M. Hess has joined Shaw as Senior Program Director withinShaw's Hurricane Katrina Recovery Task Force and will be responsiblefor all aspects of Shaw's recently announced FEMA IndefiniteDelivery/Indefinite Quantity contract. Under the FEMA contract, Shawis providing all support services necessary to provide temporaryhousing assistance for displaced residents including site assessments,design, construction, transportation, utilities and facilitiesmanagement. Mr. Hess will report to Major General (U.S. Army Retired)Anders Aadland, who heads Shaw's overall Hurricane Katrina Recoveryteam.

Mr. Hess has extensive experience in emergency and disasterresponse through his distinguished career, most recently serving theDepartment of the Army as Director of the Projects and ContractingOffice for the Iraq Relief and Reconstruction Mission, where heprovided program management and leadership for over $13 billion ofconstruction and non-construction activities. Mr. Hess' experiencealso includes having previously served as Director of the Operations &Response Division, Department of Homeland Security; Director, ResponseDivision, FEMA; and Chief, Operations Division, Directorate of CivilWorks, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Mr. Hess graduated from RutgersCollege with a B.S. in Civil Engineering in 1969, and a Masters Degreein Engineering Administration from George Washington University in1979.
