Splunk Q1 Loss Widens; Lifts FY14 Revenue Outlook

(RTTNews) - Splunk Inc. (SPLK), Thursday said first-quarter net loss was $50.8 million or $0.43 per share, wider than $16.1 million or $0.16 per share in the comparable quarter last year.

Non-GAAP net loss for the latest first-quarter narrowed to $4.2 million or $0.04 per share from $5.7 million or $0.06 per share in the previous year quarter. On average, 28 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report a loss of $0.06 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Total revenues were $85.91 million, up 50 percent from $57.21 million last year, while 26 analysts expected revenues of $80.74 million.

Looking ahead to the second quarter, the company expects revenue to be between $92 million and $94 million. Analysts expect revenue of $91.64 million.

For fiscal 2015, the company raised its revenue to a range of $401 million to $410 million from its prior range of $400 million. Analysts currently expect revenue of $406.92 million.
