Sprint Rolls Out $80 All-in Plan
(RTTNews) - Sprint Corp. (S) has introduced an "All-In" wireless pricing plan, saying that it seeks to end customer confusion and frustration related to shopping for wireless. Under the new plan, consumers will pay $80 per month for a wireless device as well as unlimited talk, text and high-speed data.
Sprint, the third largest U.S. wireless carrier, noted that its All-In wireless pricing plan counters the wireless industry's current way of advertising by providing one clear monthly price for a smartphone as well as unlimited talk, text and high-speed data - the two most significant components on any wireless bill.
With the All-In plan, consumers will pay $20 per month to lease a smartphone such as Apple's iPhone 6 or Samsung Galaxy S6, and $60 per month for unlimited text, talk and high-speed data while on the Sprint network, which excludes taxes and surcharges. Under the plan, consumers will pay $0 down and only a one-time activation fee of $36.
Marcelo Claure, Sprint CEO said, "We are telling customers, 'This is your All-In price.' So when they walk into our store or visit our website, they will see that $80 includes a smartphone and an unlimited plan to do the most important things they are going to do with the phone for an entire month: make calls, watch videos, listen to music, text a friend - you name it."
Sprint also said it is encouraging consumers to check their all-in pricing from other carriers and not be fooled by advertising gimmicks that only list the price of a phone or the price of a service plan, making it difficult for consumers to understand the full story.
Sprint will promote the All-in wireless plan with advertising that features soccer superstar and entrepreneur David Beckham. In the ads, Beckham goes from store to store, asking for a simple wireless plan with a consistent monthly cost. He is met with confusion and frustration at every stop - until he gets to a Sprint store, where he is offered All-In Wireless.
Sprint noted that the ads featuring Beckham will launch on Tuesday night during the U.S. Women's World Cup Match on the FOX Network.
The All-In Wireless plan is available starting today in Sprint stores and on www.sprint.com/allin.
Further, Sprint noted that all phones will be available with Sprint Lease, in which customers get the lowest monthly cost and lowest two-year cost for the device and plan. Well-qualified customers can receive a new phone every 24 months for $0 down, the company added.
Sprint is aggressively trying to attract customers from its larger rivals. In March, Sprint launched a new offer to woo customers who are willing to switch their wireless carriers. Under the offer, Sprint said it will reimburse all of the switching costs to join its network.
In December 2014, Sprint said it will cut in half the monthly rate plan for customers of Verizon Communications (VZ) and AT&T Inc. (T), who switch to Sprint beginning December 5.
