SRA and KoolSpan Announce Secure Voice Solution for BlackBerry Smartphones
SRA International, Inc. (NYSE: SRX), a leading provider of technology and strategic consulting services and solutions to government organizations and commercial clients, today announced the launch and general availability of SRA One Vault Voice™, an encrypted voice communications technology for BlackBerry® smartphones, enabling users to place and receive secure voice calls at the controlled unclassified information level.
SRA One Vault Voice is a voice communications application that provides a secure mobile voice solution by combining SRA’s designed and developed application for BlackBerry smartphones, management system and an authentication server with KoolSpan®’s TrustChip®, a hardened encryption module, to deliver a cost-effective peer-to-peer voice solution. One Vault Voice protects the user’s voice communications. The solution is ideal for government and enterprise customers with specialized security requirements and can be extended to protect other information when an independent security module and peer-to-peer protection is necessary. One Vault Voice is complimentary to the extensive security suite native to the BlackBerry® platform.
"Despite a high, widespread operational need for secure mobile voice communication by government agencies and commercial entities, adoption of secure phones has been impeded because they are expensive, difficult to use, cumbersome to handle, easily recognizable and require isolated networks,” said SRA Offerings and Products Senior Vice President Pat Burke. "SRA One Vault Voice remedies those issues by providing an inexpensive and discreet way to conduct secure phone conversations. In a marketplace where 50 percent of mobile calls on a daily basis include sensitive or confidential information*, SRA’s One Vault Voice solution is particularly relevant given the recent reports on the security of the global system for communication (GSM) encryption codes.”
According to ABI Research, analysts advise that companies and governmental agencies should take the same steps to ensure the security of their wireless conversations as they do when they install antivirus software on their computers.
With One Vault Voice, users can choose the preferred calling method whether cell or Wi-Fi® based dialing while the SRA relay server validates each in-bound and out-bound communication for authentication. The call process is FIPS 140-2 Level 1 validated for government and enterprise customers. Utilizing this efficient model for mobile information protection, SRA is able to safeguard sensitive information increasingly relied upon by its customers’ mobile workforce.
