SuperSonic Imagine’s Aixplorer® Ultrasound System is Selected for Inclusion in the French Public Hospital Purchasing Group (Union des Groupements d’Achats Publics) Catalogue for the Next Three Years

SuperSonic Imagine (Euronext: SSI, FR0010526814), a company specialising in ultrasound medical imaging, announced today that Aixplorer, its new generation ultrasound system, has been selected for inclusion in the Union des Groupements d'Achats Publics (UGAP) catalogue under the category "medical ultrasound equipment” for the second time since the product was first introduced in 2009.

Thanks to its innovative, easy-to-use features and clinical effectiveness, Aixplorer is perfectly adapted to meet hospital imaging needs. After the initial listing with UGAP in October 2009, public institutions were able to immediately benefit from Aixplorer’s novel UltraFast™ technology, which enables, among other things, the measurement of tissue stiffness using shear waves.

The current listing with UGAP should assist SuperSonic Imagine’s continued sales penetration in France. UGAP is a major group-purchasing organisation for public hospitals. With more than 70% of the market share in ultrasound equipment, it offers high visibility. Hospital management can easily acquire new equipment using UGAP’s rapid, simple and reliable structure.

Aixplorer, the innovative French ultrasound system, covers the full spectrum of general imaging applications. It is now equipped with a 4 probe connector panel and responds perfectly to the needs of radiology departments in terms of B-mode, Doppler and contrast imaging performance. UltraFast technology, which acquires images 200 times faster than conventional ultrasound systems, can be used for real-time, quantitative ShearWave™ Elastography. This technology is available for all probes and applications commercialised by SuperSonic Imagine, including liver, breast, thyroid, prostate, musculoskeletal, gynaecological, abdominal and soft tissue. UltraFast technology also enables two other innovations: UltraFast™ Doppler and Pulse Wave Velocity. UltraFast Doppler combines spectral Doppler and colour Doppler in a single acquisition, without compromising speed, field of view or sensitivity. Pulse Wave Velocity measures, in two seconds, arterial rigidity, a key factor in evaluating cardiovascular risks. Aixplorer is the only ultrasound system that integrates this new diagnostic tool.

Today in France, there are over 130 Aixplorer ultrasound systems in more than 70 hospitals. SuperSonic Imagine is present in 54 countries with an installed base of more than 800 ultrasound systems worldwide.
