Symmetricom Promotes James Armstrong to Executive Vice President and General Manager of Telecom Solutions Division
Symmetricom, Inc. (NASDAQ: SYMM), a worldwide leader in precise time and
frequency technologies that accelerate the deployment and enable the
management of next generation networks, today announced that James
Armstrong has been promoted to executive vice president and general
manager of the company’s Telecom Solutions
Division. Armstrong joined Symmetricom in 2006 as vice president of
engineering for the division.

tenure at Symmetricom, he has demonstrated leadership in acquiring new
engineering capabilities, served as a key participant in developing and
implementing our strategic plans for growth and most recently was
instrumental in the launch of our new office in Beijing, China,”
commented Thomas Steipp, president and CEO of Symmetricom.
Prior to joining Symmetricom, Armstrong was president of Movidis, Inc.,
a privately held company that develops high-performance networking
equipment for OEM and enterprise markets. From 1998-2002, he served as
vice president of software development at DIVA Systems, a provider of
interactive, on-demand television products and services. Prior to that,
he was manager of software and advanced development at Sarnoff Real-Time
Corporation, commercializing video server technology developed at
Sarnoff Corporation. He managed the software development of three
generations of video-on-demand servers that were deployed to several
major US cable companies. Armstrong holds a Ph.D. in electrical
engineering from Purdue University and a Bachelor of Science in
electrical engineering and computer science from Princeton University.

applications to packet-based next generation networks, synchronization
and timing plays an even more critical role in successfully delivering
these services to the consumer with the expected quality of service,”
commented Armstrong.
