Teleflex Q1 Profit Rises, Beats View; Backs FY Outlook

(TFX), a maker of medical devices, Wednesday posted net income attributable to common share holders from continuing operations of $35.1 million or $0.77 per share compared with $27.5 million or $0.64 per share in the prior-year period. On an adjusted basis, earnings per share from continuing operations amounted to $1.22.On average, 10 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected earnings per share of $1.16 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude one-time items. The company's quarterly revenues rose 6.5 percent to $438.5 million from $411.8 million last year. Excluding the impact of foreign currency fluctuations, revenues increased by 6.0 percent over the prior year period. Analysts estimated revenues of $433.18 million for the quarter.

Further, the firm backed its ful- year adjusted earnings forecast of $5.35 - $5.55 per share. Analysts project full-year earnings of $5.51 per share. The company also estimates constant currency revenue growth between 7 percent and 9 percent.
