Thanksgiving On Skid Row

WHAT:

Fred Jordan Mission's Annual Traditional Thanksgiving Banquet for Poor & Homeless Children, Women and Men on Skid Row

VISUALS:

Hundreds of volunteers cooking and serving nearly 1 ton of roast turkey, 50 gallons of gravy, 400 pounds of green beans, 500 pounds of candied yams, 500 pounds of mashed potatoes, hundreds of pounds of traditional cornbread stuffing, cranberry sauce, and hundreds of pumpkin pies for this annual street feast for some of Los Angeles' neediest citizens. 

In addition, each guest will receive a family food gift bag with fresh produce when they leave. They will also receive blankets, warm jackets and socks.

This annual dinner doesn't draw only the homeless who live on our streets. It also draws working families who can't afford to cook a Thanksgiving Day dinner of their own.

Additionally, we are already preparing to bring Christmas cheer to thousands of poor children and families, and we need new unwrapped toys for these impoverished boys and girls. We are inviting all Thanksgiving volunteers, or anyone who wants to help, to bring a new $15.00 to $20.00 unwrapped toy to the Mission anytime between Thanksgiving and December 16^th.  What a wonderful way to celebrate Thanksgiving!

WHEN:

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 24th, 2016

The event officially begins at 10:00 a.m.  The Thanksgiving Banquet will be served throughout the day until 2:00pm (come as early as you can). 

Thanksgiving Preparations and cooking turkeys with the trimmings will be happening on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 24^th, 2016. Come down now and see our volunteers preparing meals for the homeless.
