'The Dating Project' Explores the Current Culture of Dating and Relationships in the U.S., in Movie Theaters Nationwide for One Night April 17

DENVER, Feb. 6, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Fifty percent of America is single, and fewer people than ever before are committing to a traditional marriage. The contemporary cultural swamp of casual dating may be blurring the lines and making traditional dating and marriage "countercultural." Singles of all ages may be wondering what's wrong with them and why it's so hard to meet, date and marry. "The Dating Project" explores the challenges and solutions for single people who seek committed relationships and marriage, as it follows Boston College professor and dating expert, Kerry Cronin, and several students through a semester in her class on the topic.

"The Dating Project," follows five single students from various cities in the U.S. in their quest for authentic love and meaningful relationships. At the core of this documentary is a class taught by Boston College philosophy professor Kerry Cronin. Cronin, an advocate of traditional dating, gives her students a fascinating assignment: Go out on a date to receive extra credit—because these college students, she has learned, do not know how to date in the traditional sense of the term. The common challenge among each individual was that they each wanted to be in a relationship, but could not find a partner that also wanted to commit rather than "leaving their options open."

"In a world where dating has come down to swiping right or left on an app, it's worthwhile to hear Cronin's teachings on how to find a strong relationship or improve upon existing ones," Fathom Events VP of Programming Kymberli Frueh said. "This insightful documentary will give audience members of all ages a new perspective on dating and relationships."

"There is a huge gulf between single life and relationships in the United States. This powerful documentary is a reflection of today's culture with a surprising look at how one woman is shifting it, one single person at a time. 'The Dating Project' is a must-see, no matter what your relationship status is," CEO and co-founder of Pure Flix Michael Scott said.
