Toyota Feb. US Sales Up 5.2%

(RTTNews) - Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A., Inc. Tuesday reported February sales of 189,852 vehicles, an increase of 5.2 percent from last year.

Sales at the namesake division in February rose 5.8 percent from a year ago to 166,618 units and Lexus division sales inched up 1 percent to 23,234 units.

Toyota division car sales rose 1.9 percent from a year ago to 83,708 units, as weakness in Yaris, Prius, and Avalon sales were offet by positive Corolla sales. Lexus division car sales dropped 15.4 percent from a year ago to 10,058 units.

Toyota division truck sales rose 10 percent to 82,910 units, driven byles of RAV4, Highlander, and 4Runner. Lexus division truck sales jumped 18.7 percent to 13,176 units, driven by sales of LX, NX, and RX brand.

"Light trucks continue to drive strong demand in 2016," said Bill Fay, group vice president and general manager for the Toyota division. "The Toyota division had back-to-back, best-ever light truck monthly records, supported by another best-ever month in February for RAV4."
