TSX Edges Up At Open Wednesday
(RTTNews) - Canadian stocks were little changed at open Wednesday amid marginal buying in gold stocks, with the S&P/TSX Composite Index edging up 17.21 points or 0.14 percent to 12,608.42.
The Global Gold Index was up over 1 percent, with Agnico-Eagle Mines (AEM.TO), Seabridge Gold (SEA.TO), Barrick Gold (ABX.TO) and Goldcorp. (G.TO) adding about 2 percent each.
In the oil patch, Niko Resources (NKO.TO) and Suncor Energy (SU.TO) were up around 1 percent each, while Vermilion Energy (VET.TO) slipping 1 percent.
In the financial space, National Bank of Canada (NA.TO) gained about 1 percent after reporting a much improved third-quarter net income.
On the other hand, Royal Bank (RY.TO) and TD Bank (TD.TO) eased close to 1 percent each.
Fertilizer maker Agrium Inc. (AGU.TO) slipped nearly 1 percent.
