TSX Flat At Open Monday
(RTTNews) - Toronto stocks were little changed at open Monday amid selling in energy stocks, with the S&P/TSX Composite Index slipping 0.89 points 0.01 percent to 12,647.01.
In the oil patch, Tourmaline Oil (TOU.TO), Canadian Natural Resources (CNQ.TO), Baytex Energy Corp. (BTE.TO) and Pacific Rubiales Energy (PRE.TO) were down around 2 percent each.
Gold stocks were trading firm amid a rise in bullion prices. Seabridge Gold (SEA.TO) and Royal Gold (RGL.TO) were up around 2 percent each.
Department stores operator Hudson's Bay Company (HBC.TO) jumped over 6 percent after it said it would acquire Saks Incorporated (SKS) for US$16.00 per share in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately US$2.9 billion, including debt.
Electric utility Capital Power Corp. (CPX.TO) rose nearly 3 percent after it swung to profit in second-quarter, reporting net income of C$20 million or C$0.19 per share,
