Tumbleweed Data Security Expert Available for Interviews on Lexmark File-Sharing Data Breach
Tumbleweed Communications Corp.
(NASDAQ:TMWD):
WHAT:
Among the more than 40 high-profile data breaches that have occurred
since the first of the year, on Friday Lexmark International
disclosed that it suffered a data breach by inadvertently exposing
employee's personal information on a file sharing site. The file
sharing site was used to share employee data with a third party, and
was accessed in late January, exposing the names, birthdates,
addresses and social security numbers of an undisclosed number of
employees.
The breach illustrates the growing need for organizations to have a
comprehensive content security strategy - particularly when sharing
large files. According to some studies, accidental data loss is the
fourth largest concern among CIOs, and the vast majority of similar
breaches were due to lost or stolen CDs, thumb drives and laptops.
