Union Bank Builds Pacific Northwest Wealth Management Team With Addition of Two Senior Vice Presidents

To further its commitment of serving the Pacific Northwest, Union Bank of California, N.A. is adding senior vice presidents John Calhoun and Chris Merrywell to its wealth management group. As regional director for the Pacific Northwest personal trust business, Calhoun will be responsible for managing and growing business for personal trust offices in Seattle, Tacoma, Wash. and Portland, Ore. Merrywell will manage private banking relationships and oversee retail branches in Seattle, Tacoma, Wash. and Bellevue, Wash. Both will be based in Seattle. "John and Chris will be instrumental in continuing to build key relationships throughout the Pacific Northwest,” said Mary Curran, executive vice president of wealth management at Union Bank. "Their leadership and experience will further enable us to help people meet the unique challenges of managing their financial success.” Before joining Union Bank, Calhoun managed high net worth business at Charles Schwab & Co. in Seattle, and helped operate the company’s financial planning business. Prior to his work in financial services, he served as a long-tenured and award-winning sales manager at Hewlett-Packard Co. Calhoun is a certified financial planner and a graduate of the University of California Santa Barbara. Merrywell previously served as a wealth adviser at Harris Private Bank’s Seattle office, which he helped set up and manage. Prior to that, he worked for U.S. Bank in various capacities, managing district and in-store branches, and advising private banking clients. Merrywell earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Arizona State University and is a graduate of the Pacific Coast Banking School.
