US Boatworks Announces New Way to Shop for Parts Online

KANSAS CITY, Kan., July 19, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- In their 30-year history, Kansas City based boat parts and repair company, US Boatworks, has displayed a great deal of adaptability in response to an ever changing market. They have prided themselves on being at the forefront of new business trends. Although marine engines have not changed too much in the past 30 years, almost everything else surrounding them has and US Boatworks has done a remarkable job of keeping pace right along with all the hectic changes going on around them.

For the uninitiated, a boat motor is a straightforward yet complex piece of machinery consisting of both an engine and a propeller (or jet) system. Typically, an outboard motor is mounted to the stern of the boat and either controlled directly by the operator in the stern or connected to controls such as a throttle and steering wheel up front. Essentially, turning the motor steers the boat and the operator regulates the speed.

This seemingly simple operation requires a whole lot of moving parts, however, and that's where US Boatworks comes in. While they do not currently carry any parts for Ole Evinrude's 1909 outboard motor (the first commercially successful outboard motor), they do have the country's largest selection, specializing in hard to find and obsolete parts from the 1950s and beyond, for Evinrude's eponymous brand as well as all other major marine engine manufacturers. Cooling hoses, crankshafts, pistons, flywheels, gearcases of all types, electrical components, manifold assemblies… you name it, US Boatworks has it, in just about every form it has ever been manufactured. And since each of their employees has 15 or more years of boating specialization, they are sure to be able to help you find just what you're looking for.

But now US Boatworks has an even better method for getting you that obscure, out of production part: an online system in which you can view a blueprint of your engine and simply click around the diagram to order the parts you need.

"This system we have may just change the way we think about parts purchasing," says Mike Tracy, owner of US Boatworks, "It makes the whole thing a very visual exercise, eliminating all miscommunications. If you want a part, you click on the part and it goes into your shopping cart. Simple as that."

The announced technology is the latest in a string of moves that have led to US Boatworks becoming a main online presence within their industry. They have an active social media presence on Facebook and Twitter, along with maintaining a blog on their company website with boating safety tips and other recommendations.

"We at US Boatworks believe in putting technology to work for you," says Mike, "Just because the outboard motor has not changed all that much, that's no reason to become set in your own ways. Learning to adapt to the new paradigm is how smart businesses stay smart and stay afloat." With 30 years already under their belts and more to come, US Boatworks and Mike Tracy should know.
