Veraz Introduces Its Multimedia Generation Network Architecture

Veraz Networks, Inc., (NASDAQ:VRAZ) the leading provider of application, control, and bandwidth optimization products, today announced its Multimedia Generation Network (MGN) architecture enabling service providers to rapidly deploy customized multimedia services while preserving and extending the capabilities of legacy application suites. An MGN network optimizes the end-user experience by being client-aware and seamlessly supports multiple access network technologies to ensure consistency of service as well as service mobility. The Veraz MGN opens the telecom service creation environment to partners and third-party developers for new revenue generating service opportunities, and greatly lowers the cost of delivering today’s services while providing the flexibility to enable new services in the future. "The Veraz MGN solution consistently meets service providers’ strategy requirements, supports multiple technologies, protocols and network architectures,” said Becky Watson, Program Manager, Communications Infrastructure and Convergence, Stratecast, a division of Frost & Sullivan. "Veraz has routinely proven its products and solutions are interoperable in multi-vendor environments in real-world implementations.” Veraz’s MGN architecture consists of three layers: Media, Control and Service Delivery, tied together by a unifying management layer. By eliminating the silo approach to service creation and delivery and replacing it with a unified service delivery and management platform, operators can quickly introduce new revenue generating services and lower the cost to deliver their existing services. The Media Layer of the MGN, where the Veraz I-Gate family of media gateways and the Network-adaptive Border Controller (Border Gateway Functionality) reside, provides media security, QoS, transcoding and bandwidth optimization. The Control Layer of the MGN, which includes the Veraz ControlSwitch and Network-adaptive Border Controller (Integrated Border Controller Functionality), provides optimized, secure connectivity for any mix of TDM and IP services. The distributed architecture of the Veraz ControlSwitch enables unified control over a distributed architecture, for maximum flexibility in deployment and contained operational costs. The Service Delivery Layer of the MGN includes Veraz’s Open Service Broker and Policy Engine, and supports both Veraz-developed and third-party applications, thereby enabling any application to be customized and delivered across any access network with faster rollout and decreased management complexity. In addition, Veraz also offers a soft client, verazVirtu that can be customized for the service provider. The verazVirtu soft client offers a tightly integrated and optimized end-user experience across a service provider’s multimedia application portfolio. "Service providers today want to easily complement existing offerings and compete with new applications without having to forklift their network or being forced into a vendor-specific migration path,” noted Doug Sabella, Veraz CEO. "Our MGN architecture creates a unified foundation and service delivery layer that gives our customers the flexibility needed to deploy IP-based services such as presence-enabled video chat alongside traditional applications.” Veraz continues to be a leader in the development and deployment of advanced networks. With the Veraz MGN architecture, the company is providing the roadmap for operators to complete the journey to a multimedia-capable network, enabling the creation, delivery, and management of multimedia applications at the pace that makes the most business sense to the service provider.
