Vonage Granted 15 New Patents
HOLMDEL, N.J., Feb. 27, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Vonage (NYSE: VG), a business cloud communications leader, has received 15 new patents from the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Vonage now has more than 185 U.S. patents, along with numerous international patents in jurisdictions worldwide.
"Vonage's recent patents protect our ability to add rich capabilities that enable businesses to advance their own digital transformations through cloud communications technology, driving more effective communication among employees and empowering companies to connect with their customers in new, more meaningful ways," said Alan Masarek, Vonage CEO. "We're excited to be at the forefront of innovations in cloud communications that drive better business outcomes for our customers."
Benefits of the new patented technologies include enhanced network reliability and privacy, tools for increased employee productivity, and capabilities to enable improved customer connections for deeper relationships.
Patent 9,819,601 improves the protection of private communications between two parties by altering the appearance of information (data packets) passed between callers. With the recent repeal of the 2015 Net Neutrality Regulations by the FCC, content from various sources could be throttled or redirected by an Internet Service Provider at its discretion. Vonage's patented technology makes identifying Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) packets more difficult.
Patent 9,756,190 enables uniformity of costs for calls between subscribers of VoIP-based services. This allows for operations efficiencies and no impact to customer billing when accounts are maintained across separate databases.
Technology behind Patents 9,807,237; 9,766,778; and 9,763,079 help to increase efficiency for businesses with sales teams that rely on CRM and business applications to manage contacts and leads, including enhanced mobile management and display of contacts, auto-dialing and a feature to enable shared communication history between linked customer accounts.
Additional Newly-Patented Technology for Vonage
- A process for the preservation of audio signal quality (Pat. No. 9,767,802) when telephony communications take place in high loss environments, for example, over a poorly performing Wi-Fi connection.
- A process for transferring conference bridge host control to a different user or device (Pat. No. 9,762,632), as well as a feature that allows incoming callers to be automatically added to an open conference call (Pat. No. 9,826,098).
- A feature that detects and notifies a voice user of presence information of a called party based on equipment associated with the called party's device (Pat. No. 9,781,260).
