Whole Foods Denies Gay Slur On Cake
(RTTNews) - Amidst social media debates on a cake that carried gay slur, Whole Foods said it has a zero-tolerance policy for discrimination, and will investigate the allegation. The grocery chain claimed that its staff wrote "Love Wins" on a cake ordered by a pastor and that carried no offensive words.
Meanwhile, Pastor Jordan Brown, who filed a lawsuit against the company, affirmed his position that the cake received by him from the store had an offensive word, used as a slur against homosexuals.
In a video uploaded to the YouTube, the pastor claimed that he has not opened the sealed box. He said he complained to the store and failed to get a proper response.
A statement from Whole Foods noted, "Our team member wrote "Love Wins" at the top of the cake as requested by the guest, and that's exactly how the cake was packaged and sold at the store. Our team members do not accept or design bakery orders that include language or images that are offensive."
