Why Ballard Power Systems (BLDP) Hit A One-Year High Today

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Ballard Power Systems  hit a one-year high of $6.22 as of 10:30 a.m. on Monday as fuel cell providers, including Plug Power  and FuelCell Energy , continued their recent surge as the demand for clean battery technology increases. Plug Power recently earned a contract with Wal-Mart  to provide more than 1,700 hydrogen fuel cell solutions to power electric lift truck fleets at six of Wal-Mart's North American distribution centers. Plug Power's stock has increased almost sixfold so far this year. Ballard Power Systems has surged more than 150% in the last four weeks and was up more than 16% in morning trading on Monday.
