Wind storm causes power outages to Hydro One customers in southern and eastern Ontario
TORONTO, Oct. 15, 2017 /CNW/ - High winds and heavy rain that started this afternoon in southern and eastern Ontario continue to cause power outages on Hydro One's distribution system. It is expected that this weather will continue into the evening, potentially causing further damage. There are currently approximately 275 active outages affecting more than 37,000 customers. Where safe, Hydro One crews are out assessing damage and restoring power to customers.
At this time, the majority of customers should have their power restored in the next 24 to 48 hours. Hydro One focuses its efforts on emergency calls, restoring critical services and restoring customers starting with the largest number of customers affected by damage.

Hydro One tracks incoming storms and works with field offices to quickly mobilize crews to respond to affected customers. A province-wide coordinated effort is underway to provide supplemental equipment, personnel and air support as needed in affected areas.

If the power system in your area is affected by bad weather, be sure to stay clear of any fallen power lines. If you spot a fallen line, keep at least 10 metres back, even if it does not appear to be live. Report it to the police and call Hydro One at 1-800-434-1235.
