Wounded Vets Receive Keys to Jacksonville Homes from Chase, Military Warriors Support Foundation at TPC

Two wounded American veterans received keys to mortgage-free homes -- provided by the Military Warriors Support Foundation (MWSF) and donated by Chase – this week during Military Appreciation Day at the Players Championship.

Both former Marine Lance Cpl. Anthony Sayo and former Army Sgt. Nathaniel Helmuth now will call the Jacksonville area home. They were honored May 11 in a ceremony at the TPC Sawgrass clubhouse attended by PGA Tour Commissioner Tim Finchem and Admiral Gary Roughead, Chief of Naval Operations. PGA Tour professional Jim Furek handed keys to the surprised heroes before an appreciative crowd of active and retired military personnel.

"Chase recognizes the sacrifice and hardships endured by members of our armed services through its support of MWSF’s home donation program,” said Greg Beliles, a Jacksonville-based Chase Home Lending executive and former Army officer and helicopter pilot. "They truly placed a high value on home and family by defending us, and we provide the homes to express our thanks for their service.”

Since early 2010, Chase has donated nine homes to MWSF. The homes typically are valued between $150,000 and $200,000. Chase inspects and rehabilitates the homes, investing up to $30,000 for items like paint, carpet, appliances, landscaping and accessibility options.

"With support from Chase, the Military Warriors Support Foundation can help America’s heroes and their families make a fresh start in homes of their own,” said retired Army Lt. Gen. Leroy Sisco, MWSF chief executive officer. "Veterans who sustained severe injuries while serving our country in Iraq and Afghanistan deserve more than our thanks. That’s why we provide homes and counseling to help the transition to civilian life.”

MWSF’s other signature programs are:

  • The CEOS4Heroes employment program for veterans
  • Skills4Life, which provides direct family support, including outdoor recreation and family activities

"JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon is a great supporter of our American heroes, and we are very proud and honored to partner with a great, caring organization,” said Lt. Gen Sisco.
