New York, March 05, 2015 -- Moody's Investors Service today said The Kroger Co.'s (Baa2/stable) strong financial results for the fourth quarter and fiscal year ending January 31, 2015 are a credit positive. The company reported its 45th consecutive quarter of positive identical supermarket sales growth with a strong 6% identical supermarket sales growth excluding fuel in the fourth quarter driven not only by inflation in some perishable food categories and pharmacy, but also by traffic and higher average ticket. For the fiscal year 2014 the company reported 5.2% identical supermarket sales growth excluding fuel. The company also improved operating margin despite price investments and continued to gain market share in the majority of its markets.
