Moody's: Strong growth of rated high-yield loans in EMEA

London, 11 April 2014 -- The growth of rated high-yield loans -- primarily leveraged loans -- has been strong over the past two years in EMEA, says Moody's in the April edition of its "High Yield Interest -- European Edition" publication. Rated volume of $30 billion in Q1 2014 slightly exceeded the $29 billion of bonds issued in that period, and also surpassed the $25 billion of loans rated in Q1 2013. "The growth in both rated leveraged loans and the percentage of public loan ratings reflects the growing involvement of institutional investors in the European leveraged finance market," says Chetan Modi, Managing Director in Moody's European leveraged finance team.
