Atmos Energy Names Michael E. Haefner to be Senior VP of Human Resources
Atmos Energy Corporation (NYSE: ATO) said today it has selected Michael
E. Haefner to succeed Wynn D. McGregor as senior vice president, human
resources, upon McGregor’s retirement on
October 1. Haefner will join Atmos Energy as a senior vice president on
June 2 from Perform for Life, LLC, where he has been founder and
president.
"Mike Haefner has demonstrated exceptional
abilities to lead the highly complex human-resources function for larger
public companies,” said Robert W. Best,
chairman, president and chief executive officer of Atmos Energy
Corporation. "He has had financial
accountability for global benefit programs, has guided the development
of HR programs that were named ‘best in class’
and has achieved recognition for creating a ‘great
place to work’ in five countries.”
He will become a member of the company’s
Management Committee and will report to Best.
Haefner, 47, formed his own consulting firm in 2007 after serving
for 10 years as senior vice president, human resources, at Sabre
Holdings Corporation, the parent company of Sabre Airline Solutions,
Sabre Travel Network and Travelocity. He also held leadership positions
within Sabre from 1991 to 1997 while it was a division of AMR
Corporation, the parent of American Airlines. Earlier, he had worked as
an outside management consultant for Xerox Corporation and in computing
research at Eastman Kodak Company.
Haefner earned a bachelor’s degree in
mathematics from St. John Fisher College in Rochester, New York, and his
master’s degree in computer science from
State University of New York at Buffalo. He and his wife, Chris, reside
in Keller, Texas, and have two children.
McGregor became senior vice president, human resources, in October 2005.
He previously had served as vice president, human resources, since
January 1994. He joined Atmos Energy in December 1987 and held various
human-resources management positions.
