International's 2007-Compliant Diesel Technology - in a New, Fuel-Efficient International(R) ProStar(TM) Truck - Makes Its Washington Debut with Demonstrations, Tours and an EPA Validation

International Truck and Engine Corporation's enginetechnology for meeting 2007 diesel emissions standards - engineeredinto the company's new, fuel-efficient International(R) ProStar(TM)Class 8 truck - made its Washington debut with Congressional and U. S.Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) officials this week.

In a ceremony at EPA headquarters, Administrator Stephen L.Johnson credited engine manufacturers such as International (the firstcompany to achieve the agency's certification to 2007 particulatematter and hydrocarbon levels) with a breakthrough in performance andclean-air controls.

The ProStar truck, with International(R) Green DieselTechnology(R) and ultra-low-sulfur fuel, was also featured at atechnology exhibit and ride-n-drive event sponsored by the Society ofAutomotive Engineers at RFK Stadium, and in showings for members ofCongress on Capitol Hill.

"Our company is not only ready to roll with trucks and schoolbuses fully compliant with the new rule; we are excited about thelong-term impact of this achievement," said Patrick Charbonneau, vicepresident, government relations, International Truck and EngineCorporation. "These new no-smoke, no-smell trucks and buses will havegreat performance, the reliability and durability that customersexpect of diesel -- and they will contribute to air qualityimprovement across the nation. We believe that the 2007 clean dieselengines, trucks and school buses are going to help change the waypeople see diesel."

The International ProStar is the result of five years and $300million in development, its aerodynamic shape catapults Internationalfurther ahead of its competition when it comes to fuel economy andperformance. The reduced aerodynamic drag means International ProStarcustomers save more than 4.7 percent in fuel costs.

The company's new, 2007-compliant International(R) MaxxForce(TM)11 and MaxxForce(TM) 13 engines will be available in the ProStarbeginning in October 2007. These engines are the first to be launchedthrough International's agreement with German truck maker MANNutzfahrzeuge AG.
